{"id":3524,"date":"2026-05-28T10:36:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T09:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/koumanawa.com\/?page_id=3524"},"modified":"2026-05-28T14:27:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T13:27:32","slug":"handling","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/koumanawa.com\/en\/handling\/","title":{"rendered":"Handling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The way you handle your rope may cause problems, such as stranding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poking fingers between the strands can produce stranding, as can running the rope under load over a small, hard surface, eg. karabiner with small contact area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the worst is by dragging strands out of place when hooking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you need to pull, commonly double lines behind and\/or over other ropes, insert your middle finger, being longer and stronger with the knuckles against the object and the palm side behind the ropes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take the lines to your finger so it will be able to fully bend over them. Rotate your finger so the final section to the tip rolls over the lines in a full hook, and bring cleanly through without disturbing the strands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avoiding pushing the lines through, as this can easily open up strands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The way you handle your rope may cause problems, such as stranding.
