Here is our method originally taught by Ero Ouji, substituting sake for bioethanol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a bucket dye, we recommend simplicol Fabric Dye expert and simplicol Colour Fixative expert or similar. For strong colours double the recommended amount for jute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water should be mixed 10:1 with bioethanol as the alcohol content improves dye penetration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We strongly recommend using long-arm rubber gloves and dyeing in an area where splashes can be easily cleaned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For an example 8 x 8 meter set, cut 8 lengths each 8.2 meters and overhand knot the ends. Half fill a bucket with the hottest water from a household tap mixed with the bioethanol. Add the ropes and top up until covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agitate the ropes and liquid regularly for 1 hour. Drain in a metal sink. Fill with water, soak and agitate, drain and repeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fill with the hottest water from a household tap mixed with the fixer. Agitate the ropes and liquid regularly for an hour. Fully drain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0edc7cf6c1e89934fb7eeb792b5f9ac8 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#ff0000\"><strong>CRITICALLY IMPORTANT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f7711c17d7a3dd57de29c4fe6ce2c286 wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure the rope returns after hydration to its original dimensions, hang to dry with at least 1.5 kg per meter length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When dry, singe, lightly oil by running loosely through the palm, insert your closures or end knots at the correct position, and cut off the original process knots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hang for 48 hours to settle and absorb the oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jute rope may be dyed.
